Ukrainian refugee students achieve top 10% score in UK National Coding Competition

Five Varndean College students entered the national coding competition UK Bebras on Tuesday 14 November. The Bebras Computing Challenge is organised in over 60 countries worldwide and is designed to introduce computational thinking to students and get them excited about computing. Last year, over 365,000 students took part in the UK alone, with over 3 million worldwide.

We are absolutely thrilled to announce therefore that two of our Ukrainian refugee students, Artem Potomkin and Kostiantyn Semenenko, achieved a top 10% score in the Elite age category (16-18 years) and have been invited to compete in the Oxford University Coding Competition (OUCC) where Round 1 will take place in January 2024.

Congratulations to both Artem and Kostiantyn and we wish them all the best of luck for their next competition in January.
