Varndean College’s aspiring medical, veterinary and dentistry students recently had the opportunity to participate in a day of university pre-interview practice.
The students were fortunate to have the expertise of three former International Baccalaureate students who came back to Varndean for the day to talk to our students.
Magdalena Lech, who studied the IB Diploma at Varndean from 2016-2018 and is currently in her final year of studying Medicine at the University of Southampton. In 2021 Magda successfully completed her dissertation in anaesthetics and critical care, for which she achieved a First.
Portia Smith, who also studied the IB from 2016-2018 and is now in her final year studying Medicine at the University of Cambridge.
And Anna Zhang, one of our more recent leavers, who is in her first year of studying Medicine at University College London.
Students were put through their paces with questions about resilience, the NHS, the junior doctors’ strike, medical ethics, communication, teaching and teamwork.
