Health And Social Care (Foundation Level)

This course is taught in one year and is equivalent to one GCSE. If you are interested in working within the health care sector in the future, then this is a stepping stone to a fulfilling career. The course covers a range of topics including: human lifespan development, equality in the health and social care sector, effective communication, food and nutrition. An interest in the care sector is essential.

With the Level 2 qualification, you are then in a position to access Level 3 courses at college, complete an apprenticeship or enter employment.

Assessment

This course comprises two units you take in the first term and two in the second term. There is one examined unit and three pieces of coursework.

What are the Standard Entry Requirements?

Course	General GCSE Grade minimum entry requirements
IB Diploma or 4 A levels	A mixture of at least 7 GCSEs at Grades 9 – 6 including English, Maths and Science.
3 A Levels	A mixture of at least 6 GCSEs at Grades 9 – 4 including English.
A mixed programme at Level 3, to include at least one vocational course	A mixture of at least 5 GCSEs at Grades 9 – 4 including English.
Foundation Level (Level 2)	At least 4 GCSEs at Grade 3, including English. At least one GCSE should be at Grade 4 or above.
Any student who has not achieved a grade 4 or C in GCSE English and/or Maths must include further study of these subjects in their programme.
