A Festive tree with a difference!

Our Year 1 A Level Textiles students created a festive tree with a difference last week! Firstly, they were asked to re-design and make clothes for a doll using only recycled and repurposed materials. Students incorporated recycled papers, plastics, packaging and repurposed fabrics into their work and their amazing and varied creations have been showcased in the design of a festive tree which now stands proudly on display in our College foyer.

This project follows the success of last year’s Sustainability venture, where Year 1 A level Textiles students designed and made aprons from recycled materials and collaborated with Photography and Graphics to create posters promoting sustainability around the college.

Not only does this project showcase the students’ amazing creations but is also a reminder of Varndean College’s commitment to be a leading college for climate action.

NB: All the dolls used in creating this tree were pre-loved and rescued from landfill.
