Our Politics Society was excited to welcome its first external speaker of the academic year – Bella Sankey, the Labour Leader of Brighton and Hove City Council.
Bella opened the packed session by sharing her personal journey into politics, outlining her background, career prior to council leadership, and her reasons for joining the Labour Party.
Following Bella’s talk, the Q&A session covered a broad range of topics, including: tackling homelessness and improving regional transport links; analysing Andy Burnham’s rise to becoming Prime Minister; and current foreign policy challenges.
Bella was impressed by the quality and thoughtfulness of the questions our students asked. Thank you to Bella and everyone who packed the room and made our first session such a success.
