On Thursday 23rd April, Varndean Sixth Form College’s second year BTEC Performing Arts (Acting) students took to the stage at the Ropetackle Arts Centre in Shoreham-by-Sea with a sell-out production of ‘The Threepenny Opera’.
Playing to a packed house, this savage, stylish 1928 musical by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill exposes the hypocrisies of a society where morality is a luxury the poor cannot afford. This was a standout showcase for our students – theatre at its most revolutionary, a cynical, sexy, and spectacular look at a world where beggars and bankers blur into one.
