Film Production (Foundation Level)
This course provides a practical introduction to film production, alongside a clear understanding of how the film and media industry operates. You will develop your skills through guided production work, while also completing a substantial research project into the film industry.
This course is ideal if you want to:
- Develop practical skills in filming and editing
- Understand how the film and media industry works
- Learn how to turn ideas into finished video work
- Build confidence working both independently and in teams
COURSE CONTENT
You will cover both industry knowledge and practical production skills:
- How the film and TV industry is structured
- Key roles and processes within production
- How to research and present written work
- Camera, sound and basic editing techniques
- How to plan and deliver short video projects
You will also be required to travel independently off-site without supervision for filming moving image work.

Course Essentials
Courses Available
CTEC Level 2 Award in Media Production
No previous experience is required, although an interest in film or moving image production is essential, plus a willingness to engage with both practical and written work.
Assessment
Assessment is 100% coursework across two units. You will be assessed through: A written research project (majority of the course) Practical video production work Coursework portfolio There are no exams. Success depends on your ability to complete both written and practical work to a consistent standard.
