With an outstanding academic track record, students become academically accomplished and flourish as part of a welcoming, inspirational and close-knit family. We ignite passion for learning, fostering curiosity and confidence, while empowering students to thrive, both academically and personally.

The College offers over 30 traditional A Levels, a diverse range of Advanced Level Vocational Courses, the prestigious and internationally recognised International Baccalaureate Diploma, as well as a wide range Foundation Level courses.

With approx 2000 students aged 16-19 years, Varndean Sixth Form College provides a real community ethos with outstanding support, where students thrive, and where we put student happiness at the heart of everything we do. We are in the top 10% of UK schools and sixth-form colleges for value-added, meaning the students who study here achieve much higher than expected of them based on the GCSE grades they arrive with.

A large percentage of our students progress on to university each year, with many studying at top Russell Group universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. Recent HESA (Higher Education Statistics Agency) statistics show that 94.8% of our students studying at Russell Group universities graduated with a First or Upper Second Class honours degree, higher than those students from the independent sector.

We are the only provider of the prestigious and internationally recognised IB Diploma in Brighton and Hove and our students achieve the highest average Diploma score for a government funded school or sixth form in Sussex.
