Easy Access

One of the first of many questions students and parents have when considering which college is "how easy is it to get to each day?" But, on second thoughts, many realise that choosing a college is not just down to how close it is to home or how many of their friends are going there. It's much more about their experience there and what they will gain from that college in the long run.

Many of our students therefore come to Varndean College from significant distances away from Brighton. Their experience has been that it's actually much simpler than they first thought to travel to and from college quickly and easily each day, due to the large number of bus and rail routes which provide quick and direct access. Being able to get on a bus or train within a few minutes of leaving college at the end of a hard day is a welcome relief after a hard day's work and particularly when it's cold and dark in winter!

Wheelchair Access

Varndean College is the only college in the Brighton area to allow wheelchair users easy access to all areas and levels of the college buildings via ramps, walkways and lifts. The college has recently been given a disability award in recognition of the work which has been done to facilitate wheelchair access.

"It's really easy for me to get around college - automatic doors everywhere, the lift between floors and ramps wherever I need them. I think it's the only college in Brighton with wheelchair access everywhere"

Susannah Hardy, ex-Davison High School
