Varndean College Continues To Achieve Excellent A Level Results

exam resultsVarndean College students once again achieved excellent results with a pass rate of 97.2% at A Level. More than half of our students obtained the prestigious A & B grades and with over three quarters of entries achieving A-C grades we are delighted at the success of our students. At AS level, students achieved a 90% pass rate. Together this represents the achievements of over 1000 students from Brighton and Hove who will now be able to progress to their first choice university or to the second year of their advanced level studies

Thirty four students achieved straight A’s in three or more A level subjects and thirty-two subjects recorded a 100% pass rate at A level and 16 at AS, including all Art and Design courses at both levels. Several subjects have maintained their 100% pass rate record since the introduction of Curriculum 2000.

Behind the statistics there are many individual success stories: no less than two of Varndean College students were amongst the top ten scoring highest overall marks nationally for 3D Design while one student was in the top ten for Spanish.

Dr Phil Harland, Principal, said: “Results day has always been one of my favourite days in the college calendar. It is a day when we celebrate the achievement of our students and the hard work of our staff. I am thrilled by the achievements of all our students; they have excelled themselves individually and can be justly proud of the grades which they have achieved after a year of hard work and dedication”.

Chair of Governors, Paul Loman said: “Governors are delighted to celebrate the success of our students and to congratulate them. We’d also like to thank the Principal and all of the staff who work tirelessly to reach such high standards of achievement
